Ridley Scott to make Ethereum movie
The major filmmaker will take the story of the creation of Ethereum, as part of his own production company, Scott Free Productions. Based on the “The Infinite Machine” book, the film is set to be the first major mainstream movie about cryptocurrencies.
Shyam Madiraju will write and direct, and filmmaker Ridley Scott will produce the film along with Scott Free colleagues Tom Moran and Vera Meyer.
Chess.com to launch its NFT marketplace
Crypto infrastructure firm Wyre has partnered with Chess.com to create an NFT marketplace — Treasure Chess. The platform will allow players to turn any game into a Treasure NFT.
Treasure Chess will generate an Ethereum address for those who log into their chess.com accounts, while Wyre will allow this to be done via regular payment cards, without the need for a separate wallet.
Chess.com says the goal is to make the gaming element richer by supporting streamers and creators in declaiming their favorite chess games.
Nike and RTFKT release first digital sneakers
This year, RTFKT released a mysterious NFT called “MNLTH” , a metal cube that sported their logo along with Nike. Since then, NFT owners have done various “RTFKT quests” to explore the contents of the cube.
Now, after a 3-month wait, it has been revealed that each cube contains virtual sneakers, based on the Nike Dunk silhouette, called Nike Cryptokicks. The sneakers are available to people who own RTFKT’s MNLTH.
James Jean releases FRAGMENTS
Legendary artist and illustrator James Jean has released his first PFP, a collection of fantasy characters called FRAGMENTS. The NFT collection consists of 7,000 stained glass artworks. The artist was inspired by a physical sculpture he is working on as part of an architectural pavilion called Pagoda. Each art in the collection is hand-crafted.
The collection is currently open to the Elemental Holders. A total of 3,930 editions out of 7,000 are already minted.
David Beckham joins the NFT and metaverse world
David Beckham has filed three trademark applications with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) for:
- NFT and digital tokens
- Virtual clothing, shoes, and headwear
- Virtual performances and events
David has also become an ambassador for DigitalBits, which will apparently release his NFT projects. An NFT collection is to be expected in the next couple of months, implemented via DB Blockchain.
OpenSea acquires Gem
OpenSea has acquired Gem, an NFT aggregator service. Gem allows you to buy and sell NFTs on multiple marketplaces, etc. Gem will continue to operate as an independent brand after the acquisition.
Gem said the acquisition offer was “unexpected,” but it will accelerate the service’s next phase of growth. Gem will also gain access to OpenSea’s infrastructure, resources, and distribution channels.
The Sandbox collaborates with Slipknot and Knotfest to launch the KNOTVERSE
The Sandbox has partnered with Slipknot and Knotfest to create a one-of-a-kind venue for heavy music culture in the metaverse. KNOTVERSE’s roadmap will feature unique NFTs and generative collections, as well as concerts in the metaverse, games, unique access to new music, IRL events, festivals, merch, and more.
KNOTVERSE LANDS at the Sandbox will inherit the festival’s “macabre” carnival theme and incorporate voxels-based images of its members. M. Decathlon releases NFT Sneakers
Decathlon has released its first NFT sneakers, the Kipsta Barrio edition. In collaboration with soccer world champion Sean Garnier, the Kipsta includes 2,008 new versions of sneakers specially designed by Garnier, a tribute to his outstanding profession.
Each sneaker model, with its NFT “Golden Ticket” twin, gives holders the opportunity to exclusive benefits with the soccer star.
For Decathlon, the Kipsta Barrio project is the first step into the blockchain and NFT world.
