US officials’ NFTs will be subject to public financial disclosure

The US Office of Government Ethics has issued guidelines for officials owning NFTs.

  • They must report NFTs worth $1,000+ or those making an income of $200+.
  • If NFT is purchased for personal use or aesthetic pleasure, it’s not reportable even if it costs more than $1000.
  • In total, OGE suggests that seven points should be considered to help filers distinguish art for personal use and investment.
